Triple Threat Program is a 90 minute circuit program. We refer to this as the Triple threat program because it focuses on all three primary aspects of hockey skills - Skating, shooting and stick handling.

Players will circuit through the skatemill, synthetic ice shooting lane, and Rapid Hands stick handling stations with 1:1 or 1:2 coaching.

Time spent on each station is approximately 30 minutes.  There is a maximum of 6 player slots per 90 minutes.

Private  Skatemill: up to 2 players on the skatemill for 1 hour @ $150 each skater. We recommend booking in for 1 private session prior to joining the triple threat programming so you can get comfortable with the skatemill.

Rapid Shot: Come in an enjoy the batting cage for hockey. This system will improve shooting accuracy, release time and pass reception while tracking your progress in your member portal.

Skate Sharpening: We offer skate sharpening for $6.  Kill the few minutes while you wait for your skates in the Rapid Shot Machine using the shoe platform.  (The platform is meant to be used with shoes and replicated the height you would be if you were in your skates).

What equipment does the lab have ?

Skatemill

The largest skatemill on the market at 8ft x 8ft, operates on the basis of a conveyer belt (similar to a treadmill), and allows players to skate at different speeds while being coached one on one in a safe environment that provides repetitions of proper technique leading to building muscle memory and long-term retention

5 -10x faster than training only on the ice.

Our coaches are specifically trained by AKHockey on their fully developed 25 phase, in-progression Skatemill Curriculum and Methodology meant for all ages and skill levels (beginners-NHL).

The Ak Hockey Skatemill curriculum and training is incorporated into our  Triple Threat training program.

Synthetic ice shooting lane

On our Smartrink synthetic ice shooting lane you will work one on one with a coach so you can an refine your shot accuracy and speed while wearing your skates, replicating an individualized on ice training session.

The Shooting lane is incorporated into our Triple Threat training program.

Rapid Hands

The Stick handling station works on stick handling and hand-eye coordination. Using advanced technology & heads up displays, players engage in fast-paced drills that challenge their ability to control the puck while moving at top speed. This station helps improve puck control, agility, and the ability to handle the puck in tight situations.

Rapid Hands is incorporated into our Triple Threat training program.

How Does Rapid Shot work?

Rapid Shot Pro System

Rapid Shot is described as a batting cage for hockey.

The RapidShot system improves shooting speed, accuracy and reaction time. With a series of automated targets and rapid-fire technology, players can take hundreds of shots in a short amount of time, enhancing their shooting speed and precision. Players can also improve on their pass reception and a quicker release.

· Download the App: Get the official RapidShot application from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

· Register Your Profile: Open the app and follow the prompts to create your member profile. (Note: If you are 13 or under, an adult will need to manage the account for you).

· Purchase Minutes: Buy shooting minutes or sessions on our website or at the front desk. The staff will load these credits into your account.

· Start Training: Use your app or personalized RapidShot card to log into the machine, catch automated passes, and start taking your shots. Your results will automatically sync to your account for performance tracking.

Rapid Shot is not part of the  Triple Threat Program, and can be enjoyed as a drop in activity or if you have some extra time before and after your TT session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@kootenayhockeylab.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

All of our instructors are certified by AK Hockey on their 25 phase skatemill cirriculum.

They also have years of individual experience playing elite hockey at the junior and collegiate levels.

Players should bring their skates, gloves, , shin pads, helmet and stick.  Players will want to wear workout style clothing.

The skatemill consists of a continuous rotating belt that mimics the sensation of skating on ice. By adjusting the speed, it provides a challenging yet controlled environment for skaters to practice and improve their skating technique.

No, our certified coaches have the ability to train athletes based on their individual skill levels simultaneously. One skater is on the skatemill at a time and the curriculum being taught can be adjusted to the skater's skill level.

It  can be really great having players of different ages and skill training simultaneously, as it helps build a larger hockey community connection.

Yes! We highly recommend that you book in for one of our private skatemill bookings for your first time. This will give you more time on the skatemill to get familiar with the processes.  Then you will get more out of your time on the skatemill during in the circuit training.

We want you here! So, If our schedules don't mesh, send us a message or call us and we can work together to find a schedule that might work.

Of course not. It is just one option for training . If you prefer more time on a certain training system, you can book in private sessions.  See what is available on the booking site, or message us directly to see what times we can accommodate.

Just come on by!

We prefer to keep the Rapid Shot system open for drop in.

Because people can shoot a ridiculous amount of pucks in such a short time on the Rapid Shot, we expect the wait time to be minimal.

However, if you want to book Rapid Shot for 1 hour or longer, let us know and we can accommodate that.
